Daniel Howells

I conceive, design and build software from first premise to production.

I work with founders and design-led teams on new products, prototypes, and the systems beneath them. My work moves between product strategy, interaction design, engineering, and the operating loops that turn a promising prototype into a durable product.

I am based in London and interested in senior product engineering, prototyping, and design-technology leadership roles.

Portfolio · npm

Selected work

  • Siteinspire — an independent design reference platform I have conceived, designed, engineered, edited, and operated from day one.
  • Material intelligence — a connected body of private product, interface, graph, and evaluation work for making material knowledge usable. Public details are deliberately limited.
  • Product creation and prototyping — shipped products, native applications, editorial systems, and decision instruments spanning early premise, interaction design, implementation, and handoff.

The fuller product story, including public and access-controlled case studies, lives on my portfolio.

Representative tools

  • AgentSurface — a practical standard, scorecard, and transformation toolkit for making software useful to agents.
  • Arc — a disciplined workflow layer for taking agentic software work from premise through implementation, review, testing, and release.
  • WireText — an editable, text-native wireframing system: Figma, but everything is text.
  • Patternmode — focused React interaction patterns designed to survive real product constraints.
  • Motif — image-generation tooling built around repeatable, inspectable creative workflows.

Product infrastructure

  • Envelope gives local coding-agent CLIs typed Zod inputs and outputs.
  • @howells/ai provides one typed TypeScript contract across model providers while preserving escape hatches.

GitHub is the working catalog; the portfolio is the edited argument.
